Facilitation
With an intersectional power analysis and an inviting, supportive style, I support groups through challenging, complicated, or high-stakes conversations. Each facilitation is tailored to the specific needs of the group, organization, or community of practice.
Sometimes you just want to talk through an organizational challenge, policy, or idea with someone in real-time who has domain expertise and practical experience. Sometimes it’s to check your gut. Sometimes it’s because you’re blocked and want to understand how other people and organizations have approached similar challenges.
Maybe we’re working to create inclusive hiring processes. What questions should we ask? What interview format and structure should we use? What should we avoid?
Maybe we’re exploring alternate organizational structures. How do we create new ways of sharing power and decision making? Should we explore a distributed leadership model? With your executive director leaving, is now the time to try and share leadership model.
Maybe we want more transparency in our compensation structure. Where do we start? Is a strict fixed-tier comp model the right way or should we try salary bands? Should we just share every employee’s salaries and just see what happens?
Staff say they want 360 reviews, but is that the way to go? Maybe self-assessments or real-time feedback fits better with our values.
Now that we have a hybrid workplace with people working onsite and remote, should we adjust our policies to account for this? Should we provide telecom and remote office reimbursements? If so, how much? How do we create inclusive communication when people aren’t working in the same place? Should we organize a virtual All Hands or Some Hands to maintain closer connection to each other?
If you have questions about HR policies and practices; if you are working to create a people-centric organization; if you want to get a first opinion, or a third, from someone with deep subject matter and practical expertise, book an hour to chat.
